Unfortunately,\nyou never know who or what has come into contact with the carts or products you\u2019ll\nbe touching, putting you at a higher risk of infection. However, one place you\ndon\u2019t have to be concerned about visiting is your dental office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Believe it or not, compared to many other locations, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.primedentistrytx.com\/about-us.html\">dental practices<\/a> are\nsome of the cleanest places you can be. Long before COVID-19 became an issue,\nyour dental team followed strict requirements for keeping the operatories safe\nand clean, and these high standards can help you have peace of mind as you\nreceive essential dental care during this crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Practicing Hand Hygiene<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Your dental team has always prioritized healthy practices\nwhen it comes to hand hygiene. Everyone washes or sanitizes their hands before\nputting on gloves and after taking them off. They also never use the same pair\nof gloves to treat more than one patient, which means that your risk of cross\ncontamination is quite low. Because of the COVID-19 crisis, you\u2019ll likely see additional\nhand-sanitizing stations set up throughout the practice for both the dental\nstaff and patients to use more frequently to reduce this risk even further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wearing Personal Protective Equipment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When you\u2019ve visited your dentist before, you no doubt\nnoticed that they were wearing extra protective equipment, which is shortened\nto PPE. Gloves, a mask, and eyewear stop saliva and droplet aerosols from a\npotentially infected patient from reaching their (the dentist\u2019s) face and spreading\nillness. On the other hand, these items also help protect the patient from a\npotentially infected dental team member. These simple items of PPE, which were\nalready being used in daily practice, can go a long way toward slowing the\nspread of COVID-19 while allowing patients to get the care they need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Following Sterilization Protocols<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Many of the dental tools and devices used in the practice\ncome in direct contact with a patient\u2019s saliva, blood, or mucus, so they have\nto sterilized using heat to kill all bacteria. Even the little handheld mirror\nyour dentist uses to examine your teeth undergoes this process after each use.\nIn fact, blood pressure cuffs and other equipment that only comes into contact\nwith your skin are cleaned using hospital grade sanitizing solutions.
